Thanksgiving

Hard to believe that it Thanksgiving already, my parents always said that time flies as you get older and it does. I have always like this time of year even though it is easy to get caught in all the hustle and bustle. Two things as the day approaches: remember to be thankful. Do not lose sight of all we have to be thankful for.Take some time to go back and learn the truth about Thanksgiving. One website I would recommend is Wallbuilders. (click title) This article shares the history of Thanksgiving.

Above all take time to remember all the blessings you have received, and learn to be Thankful.

Better Not Be Mine

Today at the post office a driver was bringing in our DPS, delivery point sequence, which means that mail is in route order. The idea being we can take that right to the street. Just as he gets the mail to the front a tray falls spilling all over the floor, it's longer in route order. One person said out loud what the rest of us were thinking, "it better not be mine." That was just mail, but we do it in all areas of life. I heard someone's house is on fire, please do not let it be mine. I heard the doctor gave a phone call in regards to someone's bad report, please do not let it be me.

Do we realize what we are doing? I hope it's my neighbors house, or I hope it's someone else's family member that is getting the bad report. I heard of a guy riding home with a pastor one night, cannot remember his name, but they looked ahead and could see that a house was on fire. This guy reacted like many do and said, "Lord please do not let it be the pastor's home, at that point he heard the pastor say "Lord let it be my house." Seems the pastor was putting others before himself. How we react to things like that really says alot about us. What do you think?

Here we go

I am in the unique position of being a part-time pastor and full-time mailman, which is quite the combination in itself. I only get to preach once a week, and I hear a lot at work to which I would just love to be able to add my 2 cents worth, although before long it will only be worth 1 cent. Unfortunately time does not allow me to respond to all that I hear in the way I would like.

So that is how I end up here. Short-term: this will be my little haven, a place were I can address the serious and the not so serious. I am sure in this phase we will range from the spiritual, to the post office, and maybe even why the Orioles have not made any moves yet.

Long-term: I see this has the beginning of a ministry designed to do just that, minister. A place where we will help each other to grow. A place where we will deal with matters of faith, hopefully a place where we will see iron sharpen iron. If this intrigues you, I want to invite you to join me on this journey. It may not always be easy, at times we may even ask if it is worth it, but I think what's at the end will make it worth our while. Hope to see you soon.
